Soprano: Sachiko Yasuda

Ms. Yasuda began studying music in primary school at Hibari Gasshodan or “The Lark Choir” as it is called in English, and became popular as a folk singer of children’s songs. Following the classical music path, Ms. Yasuda received a Master’s degree from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, where she proceeded to teach for 18 years. Further studies included The Julliard School in New York City and The Eastman School of Music at The University of Rochester.

Ms. Yasuda began her professional music career in opera playing the role of Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro. Since beginning her career, she has appeared in many roles for which she has received several accolades. Her recitals of the Japanese Ayre have given her a reputation for beautiful Japanese words, fertility of expression, and warmth.

She, along with her sister, Saori Yuki, established the Doyo Concert, also known as “The Concert of Children’s Songs” in 1986. The concert has been held in Japan and several other countries including appearances at Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Furthermore, Ms. Yasuda’s contribution as a voice trainer is highly acknowledged with many of her students performing in musicals with theatre companies including the well known Shiki Theatre Company.

In addition to being an active concert singer, Ms Yasuda continues to dedicate her time to education and charity.
